R A I N B O W

SCIENCE

 says

 that a rainbow

 is an optical and

meteorological phenomenon

caused by the reflection of light

 in water droplets.

ART LESSONS

 can teach

 you

 about materials and techniques

 to help you

 to create

  a special rainbow.

But for a magic rainbow you need:

a stunning sheet of sky,

some 'straws' of sweet sunshine,

a couple of wicked clouds,

a delicate drizzle,

 so many fancy droplets!!

More and more masterpieces, now:

Moreover, this delightful piece of art made me think of Pablo Picasso's words:

"It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child."

I'm just so proud of you!!

HOW WE BUILT AN ABACUS

Step 1.  We cut a grey piece of clay into two halves:

Step 2.  We cut each of the two parts into two, so we got the base of the abacus:

Step 3.  We put two long sticks (one for TENS, one for UNITS) into the base:

Step 4.  We let the abacus dry up:

Step 5.  We marked the stick on the left with a red dot (tens) and the stick on the right with a blue dot (units):

Step 6.  We cut as many straws as possible into pieces of the same lenght:

AND NOW ENJOY YOUR MATHS!!

Today we celebrate a very important day for us all and for the whole planet...

Earth Day, which was established in 1970 in the USA, is celebrated on 22nd April each year.

Earth Day
 Earth Day is a day to think about our planet and what we can do to keep it special;
to think about saving water and energy,
reducing pollution, reusing and recycling,
protecting our animals, trees and plants, and generally getting children interested in protecting their environment.

Since the very beginning we started promoting an ecological consciousness in our pupils:
from switching off the lights when not necessary, to using abandoned but brand-new sheets of paper for our 'masterpieces', from reusing objects to be thrown away and give them a new life -like in our Christmas season's greetings gadget- to the adoption of our three bins (plastic, paper, black) to correctly collect different waste materials, and so on and on, really believing that even the smallest of the actions may be relevant, if not important!

Then, a couple of weeks ago, we  started talking about the Earth Day and watched at the many different pictures one can easily find on the Internet about the event;
all of them were translated and commented toghether.

Then, we selected our favourite ones, and here they are:

Eventually, we decided to imitate Nature in the stunning use of the most amazing colours

and to create our own masterpieces of sweetness

Little artists at work...

...and little works of art!

  OUR 'EARTH DAY'...
 WHAT A DAY!!
